Chris Pine and Ben Foster star in the trailer for Hell or High Water, which just premiered to excellent reviews at the Cannes Film Festival. Pine and Foster play Toby and Tanner, two brothers in West Texas who are at their wit's end trying to find a way to save their family farm from foreclosure after their mother's death. They must get the money before the foreclosure on Friday, so they decide to rob a bank to get it.

The first heist is the Texas Midland Bank, which doesn't go so well. But they get better at it over time. The banks are small, so they end up having to rob several banks to get the right amount of money. But they stay local, so the law is on their trail. At that point they get the attention of Marcus, a seasoned investigator and Texas Ranger who is about to retire, played by Jeff Bridges.

The film is an exploration of the economic devastation and desperation that has overtaken many American communities which have never recovered from the 2008 recession. Tanner is an ex-con who is pretty good at his profession. Toby is a divorced dad who is determined to give his kids a better life than the one of abuse he and his brother endured.

The screenplay was written by Taylor Sheridan (Sicario). The film was directed by British director David Mackenzie, who has managed to nail the ambience of West Texas. The film also stars Katy Mixon, Buck Taylor, Gil Brimingham and Buck Taylor. Take a look:
