Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell Get Violent in the First Hateful Eight Trailer
Posted on August 12, 2015
When the screenplay for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight leaked in 2014, Tarantino was so furious he nearly cancelled the project. But he relented and the first full trailer is finally here.
The story is set in Wyoming, less than a decade after the end of the Civil War. Kurt Russell plays bounty hunter John "The Hangman" Ruth who is escorting a female prisoner Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh) to her fate. Daisy has been charged with murder and she's going to hang for her crimes.
Samuel L. Jackson plays Major Marquis Warren, another bounty hunter who was a soldier for the Union in the Civil War. He hitches a ride with the stagecoach carrying Ruth and Domergue. A terrible blizzard makes travel impossible, so they stop at a stagecoach stop called The Haberdashery, which is as unlike any haberdashery we've ever heard of.
The stagecoach stop already has some other travelers who have also been stranded by the storm. As the evening wears on Ruth becomes convinced that someone is not who he claimes to be. At that point, things go sideways very quickly with paranoia, violence and dangerous revelations coming to light. The film's cast is outstanding: Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Walton Goggins, Zoe Bell, Demian Bichir, Bruce Dern, Dana Gourrier and Lee Horsley co-star.
The film's score is original and was composed by legendary composer Ennio Morricone, who scored most of the Serge Leone westerns that made Clint Eastwood a star, such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The film was shot in 70mm and will debut on Christmas Day in theaters that can accommodate the format. The film will go into wide release in early January, 2016. We can't wait to see it. Take a look:
