Godzilla Dominates Box Office With $93 Million Opening Weekend

Godzilla dominated the box office this weekend with a monster $93 million opening. It was expected to win the weekend but the monstrous opening well out performed expectations. The film's Friday opening of $38.5 million was the biggest opening day of the year so far. Deadline reports that Godzilla is also opening very big overseas.
Godzilla was followed by last-weekend's top film, Neighbors, which made another $25.9 million to bring its gross to $91 million after two weekends. Neighbors was followed by The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which made $16.8 million during its third weekend in theaters.
Million Dollar Arm opened in fourth. This was a weaker than expected opening for the Disney film starring Jon Hamm. Million Dollar Arm was followed by The Other Woman, Heaven is for Real, Rio 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
