Furious 7 Has Monster $143 Million Opening

Furious 7 had a monster $143 million opening in the U.S. This was the ninth biggest opening of all time. It is significantly more than the opening for Fast & Furious 6, which made $97 million during its opening weekend in May 2013. The action thriller has already made over $384 million worldwide. It has an A CinemaScore. The cast of Furious 7 includes Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Tyrese Gibson.
The animated film Home had a strong second weekend in theaters. It made $27.4 million to bring its total gross to $95 million. Get Hard finished third and made $13 million during its second weekend in theaters. It was followed by Cinderella which made $10 million to bring domestic gross to $167 million after four weekends.
Cinderella was followed by Insurgent which made $10 million during its third weekend in theaters. Insurgent has fallen a little behind the pace of the first film. Divergent had made $114 million after three weekends while Insurgent has made $103 million after three weekends in theaters.
Insurgent was followed by It Follows which made $2.4 million during its fourth weekend in theaters. Woman in Gold, starring Helen Mirren as Maria Atlmann, opened in seventh and made $2 million in 258 theaters for a strong $7,767 per theater average. Woman in Gold was followed by Kingsman, Do You Believe? and The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
