Frozen's Head of Animation Lino DiSalvo to Direct Playmobil Movie

The Playmobil movie is set for a January 18, 2019 release. It will be directed by Lino DiSalvo, the head of animation for Disney's mega-hit Frozen. Open Road Films CEO Tom Ortenberg made the announcement.

Ortenberg says in a statement, "The creative team behind Playmobil has crafted a wildly inventive, hilarious and heart-warming story that is certain to be exciting for the whole family. We are thrilled to get to work – or should I say ‘play?’ – with Lino and his team."

DiSalvo says, "Playmobil is such a special toy - the epic sets and cool little characters with endless story telling possibilities. It's a wonderful place for an animated world."

Playmobil is a toy company based in Germany. It has toys set it multiple play worlds including Sports & Action, Wild Life, City Life, City Action, Knights, Dragon, Pirates, Top Agents, Western and more. There are plenty of characters and settings for the filmmakers to choose from.

The title has not yet been officially announced. The IMDB listing has it as Playmobil: The Missing Piece. Earlier stories about the film have the title as Robbers, Thieves & Rebels.
