Trailer for Footloose Starring Julianne Hough, Kenny Wormald and Dennis Quaid

Here is the trailer for Footloose starring Julianne Hough, Kenny Wormald, Dennis Quaid, Andie MacDowell and Miles Teller. Directed by Craig Brewer, the remake will hit theaters October 14, 2011.

Everyone from director Kenny Ortega to Zac Efron bailed on this project, so we have no idea how it's going to turn out. Fighting for the right to dance in the city limits just seems so....quaint. And the idea of Dennis Quaid caring whether the teens dance in the streets or not is just hilarious. We have no idea how he said his lines with a straight face. Take a look:

We're not sure we really need a remake of Footloose. On the other hand, we feel fairly sure the dancing in the new version is going to be a lot better than the dancing in the original 1984 version.

Here's a trip down memory lane for you: Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer in the finale prom dance scene in the barn at the end of the original film. Lori's job is to scream on cue every few seconds or so. Kevin looks so young and gives it his best shot. They did bring in a few professional dancers, but mostly it's just everyone jumping up and down, wearing horrific prom dresses. There is a great Kenny Loggins soundtrack, though.
