The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies won the box office this weekend. The final Hobbit film made $56 million. It has made over $90 million domestically since it opened on Wednesday. It has also made over $100 million overseas.

The Hobbit easily defeated the other two big openings films this weekend. Night of the Museum: Secret of the Tomb opened in second and made $17.3 million. This was a lower than expected opening for the third film in the series. Annie, starring Quvenzhane Wallis, opened in third and made $16.3 million. The film was one that had leaked as a result of the massive Sony hack.

Exodus: Gods and Kings fell over 66% from its opened weekend. It added $8 million to bring its domestic box office gross to $38.9 million. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 only dropped 39% during its fifth weekend in theaters. It made nearly $8 million to bring its total domestic gross to $289. It is still on pace to catch Guardians of the Galaxy as this year's top earning film.

Mockingjay was followed by Wild, Top Five, Big Hero 6 and Penguins of Madagascar. P.K., an Indian comedy-drama, had a strong opening. It made $3.4 million 272 theaters for a $12,700 per theater average. You can view the complete box office report here.

Several new films arrive in theaters on Christmas day. They include Unbroken, Into the Woods, The Gambler, Selma, American Sniper, Big Eyes, Beloved Sisters and Two Days, One Night.
