Finding Dory Wins Weekend Box Office with $136 Million Opening

Finding Dory won the box office this weekend with a huge $136 million opening. This sets the record for the biggest opening ever for an animated film. The Finding Nemo sequel has an A CinemaScore.
Finding Dory was followed by Central Intelligence which had a big $34.5 million opening. The comedy action thriller stars Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson. The film has an A- CinemaScore.
Central Intelligence was followed by The Conjuring 2 which made $15.5 million during its second weekend in theaters. The Conjuring 2 ha snow made $71 million after 2 weekend in theaters. It was followed by Now You See Me 2 which made 9.6 million.
Warcraft plunged 73% and made just $5.2 million during its second weekend in theaters to bring its gross to $37 million. It is not doing great in the U.S. but the big story with Warcraft is its international success. Warcraft has made $339 million overseas with most of that coming in China where the game-based movie is a monster hit.
Warcraft was followed by X-Men: Apocalypse, TMNT: Out of the Shadows, Me Before You and Alice Through the Looking Glass. You can find the box office chart for the weekend here.
Finding Dory has a shot of repeating next weekend with such huge opening numbers. However, it will be up against Independence Day: Resurgence which is likely to have science fiction fans visiting theaters in drove. Other opening films this weekend include The Shallows, The Neon Demon and Free State of Jones.
