Fifty Shades Freed Tops Weekend Box Office

Fifty Shades Freed won the box office this weekend. This is the third and final film in the series starring Dakota Johnson and Jaime Dornan. It has a B+ CinemaScore.
Fifty Shades was followed by the animated Peter Rabbit, which had a solid opening and made $25 million. Peter Rabbit has an A- CinemaScore. Peter Rabbit is voiced by James Corden, host of The Late Late Show.
The third new wide release this weekend, The 15:17 to Paris, made $12.6 million for a $4,142 per theater average. The Warner Bros. film is about the American soldiers that stopped a terrorist attack on a Paris bound train. It has a B- CinemaScore.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle did not finish in the top three but it is still refusing to lose its audience. It made another $9.8 million and fell just 10% from the previous weekend. The film has now made $365 million in U.S. theaters. It is still showing in over 3,000 theaters during its eighth weekend.
Jumanji was followed by The Greatest Showman, Maze Runner: The Death Cure and Winchester. You can view the box office chart for the weekend here. Black Panther, Early Man, Aiyaary and Samson are the new films opening this coming weekend. Black Panther starring Chadwick Boseman has great buzz and is expected to easily win the weekend.
