Fast and Furious 6 Easily Defeats Hangover 3 to Win Weekend Box Office
Posted on May 26, 2013
Fast & Furious 6 easily beat The Hangover Part III to win the weekend box office. Fast & Furious 6 made nearly $100 million over the weekend, which was over twice as much as the $42 million made by Hangover 3.
Deadline reports that this was the highest domestic and international opening weekend ever for Universal. Hangover 3's $42 million box office is still very impressive for an R-rated film.
Star Trek Into Darkness had a strong second weekend in theaters and made $38 million. It was followed by the animated film, Epic, which opened with a $34 million weekend. Epic is based on a William Joyce children's book.
Epic was followed by Iron Man 3, which made another $19 million and has now made over $367 million in the U.S. Iron Man 3 was followed by The Great Gatsby, Mud and 42. You can find the complete box office report here.
