Posted on August 26, 2012

This weekend's opening films did not do well. This enabled The Expendables 2 to win the weekend with the small weekend gross of $13.5 million. Expendables 2 also won the box office last weekend and has now made $52 million total. Expendables 2 was followed by The Bourne Legacy, ParaNorman, The Campaign, The Dark Knight Rises and The Odd Life of Timothy Green.

It was not until the 7th position that the first new movie appears. Premium Rush made just $6.3 million and averaged just $2,794 per theater. The other two films opening this weekend made even less. Hit and Run made $4.6 million and opened in 10th place. The Apparition, starring Ashley Greene, made just $3 million, although it had a better per theater average with $3,648 per theater. An anti-Obama movie, 2016 Obama's America, made $6.3 million in just 2,255 theaters. You can see the complete weekend office report here.
