The Expendables 2 Wins Weekend Box Office
Posted on August 19, 2012
The Expendables 2 won the weekend box office with a take of over $28 million. The film features a lineup of well-known actors from action films including Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme and many others.
Box Office Mojo reports that the movie made about 17% less than the opening for The Expendables in August 2010. However, it still won the weekend and made plenty enough to prove the ensemble of action stars is a great way to draw fans into theaters.
The Expendables 2 was followed by The Bourne Legacy, which made $17 million in its second weekend in theaters. ParaNorman, a animated film, opened in third and made $14 million.
ParaNorman was followed by The Campaign, Sparkle, The Dark Knight Rises, The Odd Life of Timothy Green and Hope Springs. You can find the complete box office report here.
