End of Watch Wins Weekend Box Office

Posted on September 24, 2012

End of Watch, a cop drama starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena, won the weekend box office. It just barely edged out House at the End of the Street and Trouble with the Curve. The three films finished bunched closely together in another very weak weekend for Hollywood.

End of Watch made $13.1 million, while House at the End of the Street, a horror movie starring Jennifer Lawrence, made $12.3 million and Trouble with the Curve made about $12.2 million.

The three new films were followed by Finding Nemo 3D, which made $9.6 million during its second weekend in theaters. Resident Evil: Retribution fell to fifth after winning the box office last weekend. Coming in sixth place was Dredd, which bombed and just $6.2 million, an average of just $2,506 per theater.
