Elysium Wins Weekend Box Office

Elysium, a science fiction thriller written and directed by Neill Blomkamp, won the weekend box office with a $29.8 million take. It was followed closely by the comedy, We're the Millers, starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis. We're the Millers made $26.4 million during its opening weekend. Disney's Planes oepened in third and made $22.2 million. Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters opened in fourth and made $14.4 million. There were four debut films in the top four positions this weekend.
Percy Jackson was followed by 2 Guns, The Smurfs 2, The Wolverine, The Conjuring and Despicable Me 2. You can see the complete box office report here.
