Elizabeth Banks Talks Acting, Cooking and Trapezing in Self Magazine
Posted on October 24, 2010
Elizabeth Banks covers the November, 2010 issue of Self magazine. Elizabeth shared tips for making life more fun. She also revealed her no-gym workouts that help her keep in shape. These include trapezing, hiking, skiing and tennis.
On Acting: "You know the feeling you get when you're doing something a little dangerous and scary, like when you drive too fast? That sensation happens every time I walk out onstage. It's that thrill that got me hooked. That moment right before the lights go up and you think, I hope I remember my first line. It's so nerve-racking! But when it goes well, and you remember, and you do OK and you feel connected to the people around you, it's a great feeling. I call it flying."
On Cooking: "I adore eating in good restaurants, and when I eat something that intrigues me, I try to re-create it at home. I go through phases. I just went through a meat loaf phase. Then a salad phase. Now I'm in a quinoa phase. My schedule is so busy and unpredictable, but I appreciate that cooking a meal is a project I can have the satisfaction of completing in one day. I can do it with my husband-plan for it, shop for it, make it, clean up and be done. Studies show that people who sit down and enjoy their food are better off."
On Trapezing: "I love the feeling of hanging upside down, flying through the air and having the guy catch you. When you first see it, you think, I'll never be able to do this! Then it's amazing! It's so good for your upper body and core strength. Your heart rate is up the whole time."
