Posted on July 30, 2017

Dunkirk is the #1 film in theaters for the second consecutive weekend. The World War II film made $28.1 million during its second weekend in theaters. This put it just ahead of The Emoji Movie. Dunkirk has made over $102 million after two weekends in theaters.

The Emoji Movie made $25.7 million to open in second place. The poorly reviewed animated film has a terrible rating of just 8% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. It has a B CinemaScore so moviegoers did not despise it like the critics.

Emoji Movie was followed by Girls Trip which added $20 million during its second weekend to reach a total of $65 million after two weekends. Atomic Blonde starring Charlize Theron had a solid opening in the fourth position. It made $18.5 million for a $5,616 per theater average. Atomic Blonde as a B CinemaScore.

Atomic Blonde was followed by Spider-Man: Homecoming, War for the Planet of the Apes, Despicable Me 3 and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Wonder Woman continues its trend of not losing much box office punch from the previous week. It is now just $5 million away from the $400 million mark and still showed in 1,651 theaters during its ninth weekend.
