CW to Launch iZombie Series on March 17
Posted on January 17, 2015
The CW Network will launch a new zombie series on March 17th. The series is based on the comics by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred. Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) is the showrunner so that has us excited for this series.
This series is unlike current zombie shows currently airing, such as Zombie Nation and The Walking Dead. The series stars Rose McIver as Olivia 'Liv' Moore, a Seattle medical student and a zombie. Olivia works for the city coroner's office where she has access to plenty of delicious brains without having to kill living humans. The twist here that makes the zombie series part mystery/thriller is that Olivia obtains the memories of the dead people's brains she eats.
Thomas talked about comparisons to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Veronica Mars in an interview last year. He says, "...I think iZombie is more like Buffy than Veronica Mars was like Buffy." He also says the series will have a real "zombie mythology and zombie story lines" in addition to its murder plots.
The series also stars Malcolm Goodwin and Molly Hagan. Here is the trailer for iZombie. The dialogue is very clever and Rose seems great as the lead. Rob Thomas directed the pilot and wrote the script with Mike Allred, Chris Robertson and Diane Ruggiero. Take a look:
