The Curse of La Llorona Wins Easter Weekend Box Office

The Curse of La Llorona won the box office this weekend preventing Shazam from topping the box office for the third straight weekend. The supernatural horror film stars Linda Cardellini as a mother trying to stop a ghost from stealing her children.
The Curse of La Llorona is directed by Michael Chaves. It hs a B- Cinemascore. It made $26.5 million with a $7,860 per theater average. La Llorona was followed by Shazam, which dropped to #2 during its third weekend in theaters. Shazam! fell by just 29% from the previous weekend. It has made $121 million in the U.S. so far.
Shazam! was followed by Breakthrough which opened in third and made $11.1 million. Breakthrough is a drama about a boy who fell through the ice and his mother's faith. It is based on the book by Joyce Smith. The film has an A CinemaScore.
Breakthrough was followed by Captain Marvel which has passed the $400 mark domestically. Next came Little, Dumbo, Pet Semetary, Missing Link, Us and Hellboy. There was a also a new Disneynature film, Penguins, that opened this weekend. It debuted in 12th place and made $2.3 million.
