Cuba Gooding, Jr. Signs for Teen Comedy
Posted on May 23, 2007
Cuba Gooding, Jr. has signed to play a wise high school janitor in what is being billed as an edgy teen comedy in the mold of Napoleon Dynamite.
The film is called Harold, which is not to be confused with the cult classic, Harold and Maude. The Hollywood Reporter explains:
"Harold" centers on the title character, a premature balding young teen trying to adapt to a new high school. Gooding will play the school janitor, who befriends and helps him through merciless teasing. Veteran "Saturday Night Live" writer T. Sean Shannon will make his directorial debut from a script written by him and Greg Fields. This is as puzzling a casting news as we've heard in awhile. What is Cuba Gooding's agent doing to earn his 15% anyway? We're still reeling from Cuba's love scenes with Helen Mirren in Shadowboxer, the touching story of two assassins who...it's kind of hard to explain, actually. Rent it when you're feeling in the mood for something offbeat.
