Crazy Rich Asians Tops Box Office for Second Straight Weekend

Crazy Rich Asians is the number one film in theaters for the second straight weekend. The hit romantic comedy starring Henry Golding and Constance Wu added $25 million to bring its total gross to $77 million after two weekends in theaters. Crazy Rich Asians fell just 5% from its opening weekend.
The Meg finished second and added $13 million to bring its total gross to $105 million after three weekends in theaters. It was followed by The Happytime Murders, which opened with $10 million in 3,256 theaters. The puppet crime comedy has a weak C- CinemaScore.
Happytime was followed by Mission: Impossible - Fallut, Disney's Christopher Robin, Mile 22, Alpha and BlackKkKlansman. A.X.L. opened in 9th position and made about $3 million. The film is a drama about a top-secret military robotic dog that befriends a boy. It stars Becky G and Thomas Jane and has a B+ CinemaScore.
A.X.L. was followed by Slender Man, Hotel Transylvania 3, The Equalizer 2 and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. You can view the box office chart for the weekend here.
This coming weekend's opening films include Kin, Operation Finale and The Little Stranger. There is not much buzz for this films giving Crazy Rich Asians a shot at a three-peat.
