Christopher McQuarrie to Direct Next Mission: Impossible Film

Posted on September 11, 2013

Christopher McQuarrie has been announced as the director of the next Mission: Impossible movie. McQuarrie recently wrote and directed Jacker Reacher, which starred Tom Cruise. Cruise will be reprising his role of Ethan Hunt in the new film. The project will be produced by Cruise through Tom Cruise Productions, Paramount and J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot.

Cruise said in a statement, "I am thrilled to reunite with Chris for the latest installment in the Mission series. I began producing the films with the goal that a different director with his own vision would make each one. Chris is an extraordinary filmmaker who will deliver the heart-pounding action and thrills that audiences around the world have come to expect from the Mission: Impossible franchise."

This will be the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, which has earned over $2 billion in theaters worldwide to date. We are glad to see it continue. Ghost Protocol was a very entertaining film. McQuarrie did a great job with Jack Reacher, so we think he is a good choice for Mission: Impossible.
