Coldplay's Chris Martin Joins Garth and Kat to Sing Thanksgiving Songs on SNL
Posted on November 13, 2011
Coldplay's Chris Martin made his live comedy debut last night on Saturday Night Live. Coldplay was the musical guest, but Chris agreed to do more. He joined Kristen Wiig and Fred Armisen in their skit on Weekend Update.
Chris played new background singer Jan Pockabook who "used to tour with AC/DC." Jan sang along with the notorious lying singing duo Garth and Kat who were supposed to share some new Thanksgiving songs they wrote. As usual, they just made up silly songs as they went because they had nothing prepared.
Chris -- in a ridiculous wig and Thanksgiving vest -- joined in with Garth and Kat as they made up song after song. And for the first time ever, they actually sang a verse of an actual song. But then it all fell apart. Seth asked Jan why he is called a backup singer when he just sings along on every song. Jan snapped back, "I could ask you the same question." Chris is funny. Who knew?
