Carey Mulligan Lands Lisbeth Salander Role

Carey Mulligan has reportedly landed the coveted role of Lisbeth Salander. Lisbeth Salander is the lead character in the upcoming film based on Stieg Larsson's thriller The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Stieg Larsson's novel is the first of a trilogy, which gives Mulligan a three picture deal.
Times Online is reporting that David Fincher approves of Mulligan in the role. The family of the late Stieg Larsson also approves. There were nearly 5,000 potential actors vying for the Lisbeth role. She could earn up to 10 million pounds for the three films according to Hollywood insiders. That explains why many actresses want the role. The films carry a big paycheck. It is also expected to be a film that gets a lot of people into theaters.
In an interview, Noomi Rapace, who plays Lisbeth in the Hollywood film, said she thought Evan Rachel Wood would be great for the role. Most recently the discussion of who would play Lisbeth had centered on Kristen Stewart and Carey Mulligan.
