Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan star in the first trailer for Luc Besson's space adventure tale Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. The film is based on the popular graphic novel by Pierre Christin and is Besson's first feature film project since his hit action film Lucy.
Cara plays Laureline and Dane plays Valerian, the two characters who starred in the French comic Velerian et Leureline, which ran from 1967 to 2010. Drawn by illustrator Jean-Claude Mézières, the series features the adventures of the heroic Spatio-Temporal Service agent Valerian and his beautiful partner Laureline as they travel through space and time on missions to save Earth and the Terran Galactic Empire from time paradoxes caused by rogue time travelers.
The trailer features the song "Because" by the Beatles which plays as the two adventurers meet an assortment of people and creatures in exotic alien environments. They also flirt a lot. We also get a quick glimpse of Rihanna, who also stars in the film. Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Clive Owen and Rutger Hauer.
We will see anything Luc Besson directs, so we're ready to go along for the ride on this one. Certainly the visuals look spectacular. Take a look:
