Captain Marvel Tops Box Office for Second Straight Weekend

Captain Marvel easily won the box office for the second straight weekend. The hit Marvel film starring Brie Larson made another $69 million to bring its total gross to $266 million in the U.S. Captain Marvel has already made over $750 million worldwide and is on pace to become the next $1 billion Marvel movie.
Captain Marvel was followed by two new opening films, Wonder Park and Five Feet Apart. Wonder Park is an animated tale about a fantastical amusement park with a B+ CinemaScore. Five Feet Apart is a romantic drama film about a seventeen-year-old cystic fibrosis patient. It has an A CinemaScore.
How to Train Your Dragons: The Hidden World came in fourth and added $9 million during its fourth weekend in theaters. The film's total gross is now $125 million. The Hidden World was followed by Tyler Perry's A Madea Family Funeral.
The sequel to No Manches Frida opened in sixth place and made $3.9 million in 472 theaters. No Manches Frida 2 had a great $8,250 opening average theater rate. Captive State - an alien invasion thriller - opened in seventh with $.1 million and a much weaker per theater rate.
It is also worth noting that The Lego Movie 2 past the $100 million mark after its sixth weekend in theaters. People enjoy this humorous animated films based on the popular building toy. You can view the box office chart for the weekend here.
Captain Marvel faces challenges next weekend from Dumbo, The Beach Bum, Unplanned and Notebook. Dumbo is the film most likely to prevent Captain Marvel from a third box office victory.
