Boo! A Madea Halloween Tops Jack Reacher Wins Weekend Box Office

Tyler Perry's Boo! A Madea Halloween was the number one film in theaters this weekend. It made $28.5 million in 2,260 theaters for a $12,611 per theater average. The Halloween comedy also boasts a strong A CinemaScore.
Boo! made about $6 million more than the Jack Reacher sequel, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, starring Tom Cruise. Never Go Back has a B+ CinemaScore. It had a $6,051 per theater average. This was a solid opening for the Reacher franchise.
Jack Reacher was followed by Ouija: Origin of Evil which opened in third and made $14 million. Origin of Evil is a prequel to the 2014 Ouija movie. Stars include Elizabeth Reaser, Lulu Wilson and Annalise Basso.
Jack Reacher was followed by The Accountant which added $13.6 million during its second weekend in theaters to bring its gross to $47.5 million. It was followed by The Girl on the Train and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
Keeping Up with the Joneses was a fourth wide release this weekend. It did not perform well like the others. The comedy starring Isla Fisher, Gal Gadot, Zach Galifianakis and Jon Hamm made just $5.5 million in over 3,000 theaters. It has a B- CinemaScore.
Keeping Up was followed by Kevin Hart: What Now?, Storks and Deepwater Horizon. You can find the box office chart for the weekend here. Films opening this coming weekend include Inferno and Gimme Danger.
