Body Trailer Brings Dark Thrills to Christmas Movie Scene

Posted on November 16, 2015

This Christmas season has lots of movie entries for those who prefer their movies dark and terrifying instead of joyous and uplifting. The trailer for Body is out and it fits the bill if you're looking for something less grotesque than Krampus but more terrifying than the new Peanuts movie.

Three young women -- Holly (Helen Rogers), Cali (Alexandra Turshen), and Mel (Lauren Molina) -- are bored on Christmas Eve. Instead of going to bed early because everything is closed, they end up breaking into a fabulous, empty home to enjoy a little party time. They play games, imbibe adult beverages and have some fun....until the groundskeeper (Larry Fessenden) shows up to confront them for trespassing.

When an accident turns the groundskeeper into the body mentioned in the title of the film, things get really crazy. The girls decide to cover up the crime to escape any consequences. This leads to a series of decisions that can only lead to disaster.

Writers/directors Dan Berk and Robert Olsen premiered the film at the Slamdance Film Festival. It's an interesting set up. Usually it's a trio of young guys or a mixed group of friends who start making terrible decisions that end up having disastrous and/or bizarre consequences as in Know What You Did Last Summer. We've never seen a film where three young woman enter the Twilight Zone of Ethics like these women do. The dialogue is snappy and it's more of a thriller than a horror film, but it will definitely hit the spot for those tired of Christmas cheer.

The film hits theaters on December 29th. Take a look:
