Black Panther Tops Box Office for Second Straight Weekend

Black Panther is the top film in theaters for the second straight weekend. The monster Marvel hit added $108 million to bring its total gross to $400 million after just two weekends in theaters. It is currently the top film of the year so far by over $300 million. It had a monster opening last weekend.
Black Panther was followed by Game Night, a black comedy thriller starring Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams and Kyle Chander. Game Night made $16 million in a decent opening. It has a B+ CinemaScore. Game Night was followed by Peter Rabbit, which added $12.5 million during its third weekend in theaters.
Annihilation opened in fourth. The horror science fiction film stars Natalie Portman and has a C CinemaScore. It made $11 million in just over 2,000 theaters for a good $5,467 per theater average. Annihilation was followed by Fifty Shades Freed, Jumanji: Welecome to the Jungle and The 15:17 to Paris.
Every Day was the other wide release this weekend. It stars Angourie Rice as a teenager who falls in love with "A," a mysterious being that inhabits a new body each day. It made $3.1 million and has a B+ CinemaScore.
Jennifer Lawrence and Bruce Willis will face Black Panther this coming weekend. Jennifer Lawrence plays a ballerina recruited to a Russian intelligence service in Red Sparrow. Willis is a vigilante in pursuit of robbers that attacked in his family in Death Wish.
