Bill Murray and Neel Sethi Perform The Bare Necessities on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Posted on April 1, 2016
Bill Murray and Neel Sethi were guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote their new film The Jungle Book. Neel Sethi plays Mowgli in the film and Bill Murray voices the bear Baloo. Disney hasn't released only one short clip showing Murray's Baloo and it's just pitch-perfect. We've been quite curious as to his take on the role as the bear who befriends little Mowgli. The film, which is based on the Rudyard Kipling classic story, was directed by Jon Favreau.
Jimmy brought up the original animated Disney version of the film which was released in 1967. Murray said he watched the film as a child. Jimmy wanted to know if the classic song "The Bare Necessities" is in the remake. They didn't really answer that question, but were agreeable to busting out an impromptu version of the song when Jimmy asked them to.
Murray is absolutely fantastic as Baloo and we love his performance of this song. It's interesting that he was chosen to accompany Neel on the publicity circuit: clearly they have a great rapport. We hope we get more of singing Bill Murray on the publicity tour, because it's simply awesome.
The film hits theaters on April 14th. Mowgli is live, but all the animals are CGI. Scarlett Johansson voices Kaa the snake, Idris Elba voices Shere Khan, Lupita Nyong'o voices Rakasha, Christopher Walken is King Louie and Ben Kingsley voices Bagheera.
