Beyonce Sings New Version of Crazy in Love in First Fifty Shades of Grey Trailer
Posted on July 24, 2014
The first trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey has landed and it's kind of interesting. The film, based on the bestselling novel by E.L. James which has sold more than 100 million copies, stars relative unknowns Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan as billionaire Christian Grey.
Charlie Hunnan (Sons of Anarchy) was set to play Christian Grey, but pulled out of the project either due to scheduling conflicts (according to Charlie) or due to cold feet after all the negativity after his casting was announced (according to all the gossip). But Dornan says he's ready for the challenge. In the trailer we see a dowdy looking Anastasia schlep into Grey's office to interview him. She is awkward, but has beautiful eyes. Grey, who is announced by the infamous line "Mr. Grey will see you now" looks young. Really, really young.
They meet, they get involved. But he tells her that he "doesn't do romance" and that he has more unusual tastes. "Enlighten me, then," purrs Anastasia. So he takes her to the forbidden room, opens the locked door and she sees his little secret. Yes, Mr. Grey has some unusual tastes.
Dakota Johnson, the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, seems to have a handle on the part. As for Dornan, it's too early to tell. The best part of the trailer is a new remix of Beyonce's hit "Crazy in Love." Beyonce singing a slowed down, throaty version of the song is the sexiest thing in the trailer. But then again, Beyonce's fragrance ads are sexier than most romantic films.
The film will be released on Valentine's Day, 2015, which seems like a really odd release date. This is not a feel good rom-com in any way, shape or form. We'll see what director Sam Taylor-Johnson does with the material. Take a look:
