Idris Elba and Richard Madden Fight Terrorists in Bastille Day Trailer
Posted on February 22, 2016
The first trailer for the action thriller Bastille Day is out and it's quite good. Idris Elba stars as a CIA agent Sean Briar who is working in Paris to stop a bomber. He teams up with a pickpocket named Michael Mason (Richard Madden) who is in the wrong place at the wrong time and accidentally sets off a bomb. To clear his name, Mason must help Briar catch the real culprits.
Idris Elba is British and Richard Madden is Scottish, but they are both doing American accents for the film which is kind of jarring. But they have good chemistry. It's certainly a different role for Madden, who seems determined not to get typecast after starring in Game of Thrones as Robb Stark and in Cinderella as the prince.
The film was directed by James Watkins (The Woman in Black) and the screenplay was written by Andrew Baldwin. Jose Garcia, Charlotte Le Bon, Kelly Reilly and Anatol Yusef also star in the film which is set for release on July 13th, the day before Bastille Day in France. Take a look:
