Ultron is On the Loose in Avengers: Age of Ultron Teaser Trailer
Posted on October 23, 2014
Marvel released the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron which hits theaters on May 1, 2015. The teaser is pretty dark and very dramatic. It opens with scenes of destruction while James Spader as Ultron intones, "I'm going to show you something beautiful...everyone screaming...for mercy."
Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Ultron is the big bad in the Avengers sequel. He's a robot from a weapons program who has "cut his strings" and is now pursuing his own agenda. The Avengers themselves are not looking so happy. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) drops his hammer. Captain America (Chris Evans) lies on the ground with his shield broken in half. Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) for once has no witty one liners. Instead he says, "It's the end. The end of a path I started us on." The fact that Tony Stark has lost his sarcasm is very alarming.
Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) is exhausted and stumbling in the woods, then we see the Hulk facing off against Iron Man in his bulked up suit. The Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is ready to fight: she gets dropped out of a plane while riding her motorcycle.
We get to see two new superheroes. Elizabeth Olsen plays Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Aaron Taylor-Johnson is quite speedy as Petro Maximoff/Quicksilver. Cobie Smulders will return as Agent Maria Hill and Samuel L. Jackson will return as Nick Fury. Paul Bettany will appear as Jarvis/The Vision a and Jeremy Renner returns as Hawkeye.
The destruction and mayhem shown in the trailer is contrasted with the music. The song is "I've Got No Strings," which is from Disney's Pinocchio. But when Ultron says, "I am free. There are no strings on me" it has a very different vibe. It's scary, it's creepy and it's James Spader. We can't wait to see this. Take a look:
