Avatar Tops Box Office For Seventh Straight Week
Posted on February 1, 2010
Avatar is the number one film in theaters for the seventh straight weekend. The new releases, Edge of Darkness and When in Rome, were unable to stop it. Avatar has now made over $2 billion worldwide, the all-time worldwide box office record (not adjusted for inflation). Avatar is also closing in on the all-time U.S. domestic box office record, which is held by another James Cameron film, Titanic.
Avatar could stretch its string of box office victories to eight this coming weekend. It will be up against Dear John, From Paris With Love and Frozen. The following weekend Avatar faces the star packed romantic comedy, Valentine's Day, which could break Avatar's streak.
