Andy Serkis Talks The Hobbit, Motion Capture Technology

Andy Serkis is best known for his brilliant motion capture performances as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and as Caeser in Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Andy says the technology has come far since the first Lord of the Rings movie. He says now you can film motion capture at the same time you film live action. Both actors are interacting on film, one of them is wearing a motion capture suit.
Andy says he loves being anonymous and never gets recognized on the street. But at Comic-Con, everyone knows who he is. He didn't mention it in the interview, but Andy was also the second unit director on The Hobbit. Peter Jackson asked him to do it, and he spent a year and a half in New Zealand playing Gollum and directing scenes. Take a look:
