Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal Star in First Trailer for Nocturnal Animals

The first trailer for Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals has dropped and it's just as stylish as you would expect from one of the world's top fashion designers. But it's more than stylish: it's a psychological thriller that is quite compelling. Amy Adams stars as Susan Morrow, a wealthy art dealer in Los Angeles whose marriage to the handsome Hutton Hastings (Armie Hammer) is cold and unfulfilling. She gave up her own artistic dreams for a solid future and has regrets. But just when you think this is a story of an unhappy wealthy person things get real.
Susan gets a manuscript in the mail from her ex-husband Tony (Jake Gyllenhaal) who she hasn't seen in nearly 20 years. She left him when he was still a struggling aspiring writer. She becomes extremely upset as she reads the novel which is titled Nocturnal Animals. She sees the story as a revenge tale aimed directly at her. The film shows us the story within a story in which a family on a road trip in West Texas (Jake Gyllenhaal, Isla Fisher and Ellie Bamber) are forced off the road by a gang who has some terrible plans for them.
The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival to excellent reviews. Tom Ford wrote and directed the film, which is based on the novel Tony and Susan by Austin Wright. Michael Shannon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Karl Glusman, Robert Aramayo, Laura Linney, Michael Sheen and Andrea Riseborough co-star. The film hits theaters on December 16, 2016. Take a look:
