Alice Through the Looking Glass Looks Wilder Than Tim Burton's Film

Posted on February 4, 2016

Disney has released a teaser trailer for the Alice in Wonderland sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass. The trailer is narrated by the Blue Caterpillar (Alan Rickman), which just reminds again of what a fantastic actor he was and how much he will be missed.

This time Alice (Mia Wasikowska) must return to Underland to save the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp). She must stop the evil Lord of Time (Sacha Baron Cohen) before he destroys Wonderland by moving time forward. Helena Bonham Carter returns as the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway is the White Queen, Michael Sheen voices the White Rabbit, Rhys Ifans is Zanik Hightower, and Stephen Fry is the voice of the Cheshire Cat.

The first film was directed by Tim Burton. This time James Bobin takes the reins and put his own stamp on the classic children's story. From this trailer it looks like Bobin is determined to outdo Burton as far as weirdness goes. In any event, the films are certainly different from the books so if you know that going in it won't be too much of a shock.

The screenplay was written by Linda Woolverton using characters from the original Lewis Carroll's book. The film will be released on May 27, 2016. Take a look:
