Alexis Stewart's Bizarre, Hostile Appearance on The Today Show
Posted on October 24, 2011
Alexis Stewart and Jennifer Koppelman Hutt were guests on The Today Show to promote their new book, Whateverland: Learning to Live Here: An Exuberant and Hilariously Irreverent Guide to Life. The book has made news because of all the negative things Alexis says about her mother, Martha Stewart.
Alexis says the book is meant to be humorous, and so are the stories (which are quite unflattering to Martha). The stories are really awful -- like Martha going to the bathroom and leaving the door open when guests were over, Martha refusing to answer the door on Halloween (Alexis now says she enjoyed that) and so on. Alexis comes across as a cold, entitled, spoiled brat, while Jennifer comes across as loving and warm.
Alexis and Jennifer have "broken up" and aren't friends anymore, which is making it really awkward to do the book tour. Jennifer says she'd like to still be friends with Alexis, but Alexis doesn't want to be friends. She says nothing happened, but she doesn't want to be Jennifer's friend, saying it's like looking at your husband one day and going "Eewww." Nice. Alexis says Jennifer is clingy, which Jennifer agrees with. Alexis won't even look at her former friend - - and commented, "If you want to punish somebody, never talking to them again is a really good method." Alexis is rude, ungracious and cruel. Her attitudes are just bizarre -- she can't understand people who are close with their families, for example. Jennifer is better off without her.
Alexis was pretty rude to host Savannah Guthrie, who did her best to be friendly. As for Martha Stewart, she says she doesn't mind being made fun of and said people should buy the book. No, thanks. Take a look:
