Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac star in the first teaser trailer for A Most Violent Year. The gritty drama is set in the winter of 1981 in New York City.

The supporting cast includes The great cast also includes Albert Brooks, Alfred Molina, and David Oyelowo.
It's not exactly clear what business they are in, but it appears that they are being accused of criminal activity. J.C. Chandor wrote and directed the film. This is Chandor's third film. He was a successful commercial director for fifteen years, then burst on the Hollywood scene with Margin Call, a fast paced, compelling drama about the financial shenanigans at the end of the 1980s. Last year he directed All is Lost, a very well reviewed drama which starred Robert Redford as a man who is sailing the ocean alone when calamity hits. The survival story was very different from Margin Call.
The trailer for A Most Violent Year features Oscar Isaac's character intoning that, "When it feels scary to jump, that is exactly when you jump. Otherwise you end up staying in the same place your entire life." Is that Chandor talking? The film will be released on December 31, 2014. Take a look:
