Teaser Trailer for A Deadly Adoption Starring Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig
Posted on June 11, 2015
The trailer A Deadly Adoption has finally been released by Lifetime. Okay, it's actually a teaser trailer, but it's still worth a look. This is the Will Ferrell - Kristen Wiig project that was rumored, but was thought to be defunct after Will said he refused to go forward with it after the details leaked online. Clearly, he was kidding.
The movie is "based on a true story" about a couple who invite a pregnant young woman (Jessica Lowndes) into their home while she is pregnant. The plan is for them to adopt the baby. But, as one might infer from the title, things do not go according to plan.
Will and Kristen are the couple who longs for a baby to call their own. But somewhere along the line, they appear to have broken ranks. The trailer has Kristen doing a dramatic voiceover saying, "We could have had everything. We could have had a happy life together. You're selfish, a coward and a liar...just like the rest of them!!"
We get a quick shot of Kristen aiming a gun, then we see Will on a remote road with blood on his jacket. He's sporting a huge beard and standing in the middle of the road while a truck driven by Jessica is bearing down on him. Kristen is in the front seat. He dives off the road just before they hit him, but who knows what happens after that.
The trailer ends with a shot of Will sitting next to a very pregnant Jessica on a bench overlooking a beautiful lake. He laughs and says to her, "You really are a strange girl." Yikes. The film was directed by Rachel Lee Goldberg. The screenplay was written by Andrew Steele, who wrote Will's film Casa de mi Padre, a Spanish language drama in which Will starred. That film was played straight, as this one is, but was a spoof of similar films.
The film looks even more over the top than the usual Lifetime fare, and we can't wait to see it. It looks hilarious. The film debuts on lifetime on June 20th at 8:00 p .m. Central. Take a look:
