2 Guns Tops Weekend Box Office
Posted on August 4, 2013
2 Guns, an action comedy starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, won the weekend box office. It mad $27.3 million with an average of over $9,000 per theater. The Wolverine came in second with $21.7 million to push its total gross near the $100 million mark.
The Smurfs 2 disappointed and opened in third with a small $18.2 million take. Movies about the Smurfs usually do better overseas, but Deadline reports that the overseas box office was not enough to make up for the weak U.S. performance.
The Conjuring finished third in its third week in theaters. The small budget horror film made another $13.6 million to bring its total domestic gross over $108 million. The Conjuring was followed by Despicable Me 2, Grown Ups 2, Turbo, Red 2 and The Heat. You can see the complete box office report here.
